How to print from The New York Times, Globe & Mail, and Times Digital Archive

Printing articles from The New York Times on Proquest Historical Newspapers, the Globe & Mail, Canada's Heritage from 1844 and Times Digital Archive will differ according to the Acrobat Reader Version from which you are viewing the articles.

Printing from Adobe Acrobat Reader Version 8

The best way to print articles, especially those on long columns, is to use the SNAPSHOT TOOL on Adobe Acrobat Reader.

  • The icon for the SNAPSHOT TOOL is a camera
  • If you do not see the SNAPSHOT TOOL on the toolbar, right click on the zoom + or - sign.
  • Select SNAPSHOT TOOL.
  • The cursor will change to a cross
  • Click and hold the left click of the mouse.
  • Select part of the article (a column that spans the full page from top to bottom should be divided into 2 print jobs)
  • Click on the Printer icon of Adobe Acrobat Reader
  • The Print Range will automatically be changed to Selected Graphic
  • Click on OK

Note: You cannot fully preview the print job.

Note: The ZOOM IN/OUT tools of Adobe are for viewing only; they do not affect the print job.

Printing from Adobe Acrobat Reader Version 7

The best way to print articles, especially those on long columns, is to use the GRAPHICS SELECT TOOL on Adobe Acrobat Reader.

  • Click on the GRAPHICS SELECT TOOL
  • The cursor will change to a cross
  • Click and hold the left click of the mouse
  • Select part of the article (a column that spans the full page from top to bottom should be divided into 2 print jobs)
  • Click on the Printer icon of Adobe Acrobat Reader
  • The Print Range will automatically be changed to Selected Graphic
  • Click on OK

Note: You cannot fully preview the print job.
