Where are the DVD/VHS videos located?
DVD/VHS videos are available from the Media Services
Desk at the Webster Library and at the
Circulation Desk at the Vanier Library.
To find DVD/VHS videos in the CLUES catalogue, enter keywords in the search box.
Example: "water supply"
**Note: if you get too many hits in CLUES, click on

first to adjust your keywords, otherwise the video format will be lost.
Searching by director, producer, actor or production company
Step 1: Search by Author in CLUES.
- Producers, directors, writers and main performers may be searched as authors in CLUES, for example:
- Hitchcock, Alfred
- Spielberg, Steven
- Hepburn, Katharine
- Production companies may also be searched as authors in CLUES, for example:
- National Film Board of Canada
- Vidéographe
- Paramount Pictures

Searching by title or series
Step 1: Search by Title in CLUES.

Searching by genre, technique or form
Step 1: Search by Subject in CLUES.
- Search by subject heading to find works by genre, technique or form, for example:

- Silent films
- Closed-captioned materials is listed under the subject heading "Video recordings for the hearing impaired."

Finding online videos using databases
- Access to the following resources is restricted to Concordia users.
- Dance in Video (Alexander Street Press Collection)
A collection that covers ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, experimental, and improvisational dance, as well as forerunners of the forms and the pioneers of modern concert dance.
- Encyclopedia Britannica Online
Click on "Media Collection" and then "Videos" to see online videos on topics including animals to geography, history, science, the arts, and technology.
- Ethnographic Video Online (Alexander Street Press Collection)
A growing collection of ethnographic films, with transcripts. Includes classic works from the pioneers of ethnographic film as well as with contemporary works by filmmakers from around the world.
- North American Indian Thought and Culture (Alexander Street Press Collection)
The collection presents Indian and Canadian First People experiences from their own point of view, and includes some audio and video content.
- Oral History Online (Alexander Street Press Collection)
The database provides detailed indexing of oral history collections, repositories, and narratives, along with links to full text, audio, and video where available. Click on "Search Interviews" and limit to videos.
- Theatre in Video (Alexander Street Press Collection)
Theatre in Video is a streaming video database which contains performances of more than 250 of the world’s most important plays.
- Vanderbilt Television News Archive
Searchable archive of abstracts of news broadcasts. Streaming video is available for NBC material, ranging from August 5, 1968 to the present and CNN broadcasts beginning in 1995. No current material will be made available until at least 72 hours after it was originally broadcast.
