The full-text of major English language Canadian daily newspapers is available through the Canadian Newsstand database and Eureka. The full-text of French and English language daily newspapers as well weekly local and regional newspapers from across Canada is available through the Eureka database.

Searchable Archives

The Canadian Newsstand, Eureka, Factiva databases provide text archives for major Canadian newspapers. Check the e-journals list under the name of the newspaper to find out which database includes the newspaper you are looking and what years are archived. For example, the e-journals list indicates that the Montreal Gazette is archived from 1985 onwards in the Canadian Newsstand database, and from 2001 onwards in the Factiva database. Additional newspaper archives are available via the Lexis-Nexis database accessible only within the library.

A full image archive of the Globe and Mail from 1844 is available via the Globe and Mail Canada's Heritage database.

Google News Archive provides some full-image archives for selected Canadian Newspapers. Use the advanced search feature to search by publication name and time period.
