Technical Reports
Technical reports are documents produced by researchers detailing
the results of current investigations to their organization or
institution, to a funding agency, or in response to a query from an
individual or group interested in the progress of a research topic.
The reports are generally published by the organization or
institution supporting the work, such as university departments,
government agencies, research institutes, or private industry.
Many of the sites listed below help in identifying reports from
various universities and research institutes. They provide citations
and, in some instances, abstracts to the report. Some sites offer
access to the reports either by the web or they may be purchased for a
fee from the publisher.
- Collection of
Computer Science Bibliographies
This collection currently contains more than 740,000 references to
journal articles, conference papers and technical reports. More than
30,000 publications are available online.
- Computing
Research Repository (CoRR)
Started in September 1998, this repository is sponsored by ACM,
the Los Alamos e-Print
archive and NCSTRL
(see below) to create a single site to which researchers from the whole
field of computing can submit reports. The repository has been
integrated into the collection of over 20,000 computer science research
reports and other material available through NCSTRL and will be linked
with the ACM Digital Library. The repository will be available to all
members of the community at no charge. Information on how to submit
documents, browse, search, and subscribe to get notification of new
articles of interest is provided.
- Networked
Computer Science Technical Reference Library (NCSTRL)
An international collection of technical reports from Computer Science
departments, industrial and government research laboratories.
- On-line
CS Techreports
Over 395 web, ftp and gopher sites.
- Technical
Report Archives in Computer Science
From Simon Fraser University, a list by name to institutional archive
sites.
- Virtual
Technical Reports Center
Large list of institutions that offer online eprints, preprints, and
technical reports.
- CISTI Catalogue (Canadian Institute for Scientific
and Technical Information)
Includes two million technical reports on microfiche from around the
world.
- Hypertext
Bibliography Project
This hypertext bibliography created by D.M. Jones contains abstracts
and author links to papers published in the the Journal of the ACM
since 1954.
- HCI Bibliography:
Human-Computer Interaction Publications & Resources
Close to 20,000 entries in the database on human-computer interaction.
- IRC Publications
Database (Institute for Research in Construction, National Research
Council)
Publications, papers and reports issued since 1947.
- NASA
Technical Report Server (NTRS)
Search technical report servers maintained by various NASA centers and
programs. Includes subjects such as computer science, aeronautics,
astronomy, environmental science and space research.
- NATO
Research & Technology
Searchable Repository of NATO documents.
- NTIS
Technical Report Database
- Purchased reports - The NTIS database includes reports
from government sponsored U.S. and worldwide scientific, technical,
engineering, and business fields.
- Free reports - To find the same reports as in the NTIS
Technical Report database, but for free, try TRAIL (see below) or
individual U.S. Departments, such as the Department of Energy's Energy
Citations Database or Information Bridge, the
Department of Defense's Technical Information Center,
or the Environmental Protection Agency's Publication
Sources.
- TRAIL-Technical
Report Archive and Image Library
