DPrint Scanning FAQ

Q: How do I scan and e-mail?

B&W printer-copier: Press the “Services home” button (a metal button to the left of the LCD screen), then select “E-mail”; change settings as desired; when ready to scan, press green “Start” button to the right of the LCD screen; the e-mail will be sent after a few seconds’ delay.

Colour printer-copier: On main menu, select “Email”; change settings as desired; when ready to scan, press green “Start” button to the right of the LCD screen; the e-mail will be sent after a few seconds’ delay.

Q: How do I place materials for scanning/copying?

A: Items going in the feeder are placed face up on both B&W and colour printer-copiers.

B&W printer-copier: Place on the right side of the glass – use arrow as indicator

Colour printer-copier: Place on the left side of the glass – use arrow as indicator

Q: How do I scan multiple pages?

B&W printer-copier: Either use the document feeder for loose pages, otherwise, on the main scanning menu, select “Job Assembly” tab, then turn on “Build Job”; go back to the “E-mail” tab and press green start button; once that page is scanned, put on the next page and press start again; when you are all done scanning, go back to the “Job Assembly” tab and turn off “Build Job” – the scan should now be sent.

Colour printer-copier: Either use the document feeder for loose pages, otherwise, when scanning the first page, a “send email” screen will appear– press the “next original” button on the right; Important: press this BEFORE your first scan has ended; the system will then allow you to keep scanning pages (press “next original” each time you have a new page to scan) ; page count should increase on the screen. When all pages have been scanned, press “Last original” button to send email.

Q: How do I save my scan as a non-PDF file type?

A: B&W printer-copier: On the scanning menu, go to “E-mail options” > File Format – select the file format you wish to use (JPEG, TIFF or XPS); Important: if doing multi-page scanning, note that JPEG will only send image files one at a time.

Colour printer-copier: On the scanning menu, go to “E-mail options” > File Format – a list of formats will be there (JPEG, TIFF, XPS). Important: if you want to use JPEG, you will need to go back to the main “E-mail” tab and under “Colour scanning” select “colour” ; for multi-page scans, JPEG will not work well as it only sends one image at a time.

Q: How do I change the resolution of my scan?

A: The default resolution is 300 dpi.

B&W printer-copier: On the scanning menu, go to “Advanced settings” and select the resolution. Important: files scanned at very high resolution may not always be sent, and no error message will be present.

Colour printer-copier: On the scanning menu, go to “Advanced settings” – options are 200, 300, 400, 600 dpi but if you want higher than 300 dpi you need to turn off “MRC high compression” in the “E-mail options”>” File format” setting. Important: files scanned at very high resolution may not always be sent, and no error message will be present.

Q: How do I scan a photo?

A: Colour printer-copier: On the main “E-mail” tab, select “colour” ; In the scan menu, under “E-mail options” go to “File Format” then select TIFF or JPEG; In the scan menu, go to “Advanced Settings” and select “Photographs” and press “on”. You can now scan the photo.

Q: How do I confirm if the e-mail containing my scan has been sent?

B&W printer-copier: You will see a message on the display, as the scan is being sent, that says “scanning”>”processing”>”transferring” >”completed”. Email sent indicators are not always reliable.

Colour printer-copier: You will hear a “beep” that signals that the file has been sent; you can also press the “Job Status” screen to the right of the LCD display to see the status of your job. Email sent indicators are not always reliable.
