Media equipment & facilities

Introduction

Both libraries offer a variety of equipment and facilities to help you access or view our media collections.

Viewing rooms

Vanier Library viewing room

Location: 2nd floor, VL-203

The Vanier viewing room contains a 50" plasma screen connected to a DVD, VHS and videodisk player. The screen is also connected to a computer with internet access and Microsoft Office software. The room can seat up to 20 people.

To book the room, please use the Booked Scheduler.

VCRs, Videodisc, U-Matic and DVD players

Both libraries are equipped with VHS, Videodisc, U-Matic and DVD players along with viewing monitors. Vanier Library has Beta players available.

  • Webster Library
    • Equipment available on the 3rd floor
    • Support available on the 2nd floor at Information Services (during service hours)
  • Vanier Library
    • Equipment available on the 2nd floor
    • Support available at Circulation Services (main floor, during service hours)

CD players, turntables, and audio-cassette players

Both libraries have CD players, audio-cassette players and turntables available on a first-come first-served basis. The Vanier Library also has a DAT player and a filmstrip/audio player.

Slide viewers, slide table

Both libraries are equipped with slide viewers and slide tables.

Headphones

Headphones for use with a laptop, VCR, DVD player, CD player or other equipment may be borrowed for the day from the:

  • Webster Library - Circulation Services (2nd floor, during service hours)
  • Vanier Library - Circulation Services (main floor, during service hours)
