Library Information for Loyola High School Faculty, Staff and Students

Membership/Privilege Card

Loyola High School Faculty and Staff, and Loyola High School Students are eligible to receive a Concoridia University Library Privilege Card. A valid I.D. card issued by Loyola High School and valid personal identification must be provided for registration. Students must also present a letter from their teacher indicating legitimate need for library service at Concordia. The Concordia University Library Privilege Card is valid for the current academic session.

Circulation Services

Concordia University Library Privilege Card holders, upon presentation of their card and valid personal identification, can borrow books and other materials that circulate from the Libraries. Some material, such as periodicals and Reference material, does not circulate. Borrowers may obtain information about their own circulation record at a Circulation Desk or online in CLUES, the library catalogue, under MyCLUES.

Overdue Fines

Overdue fines are charged at $1 per day per item for most items. Library borrowing privileges are suspended if a fine of $5 has been incurred. Please note that non-receipt of an overdue notice does not release borrowers from their responsibility to return books on time.

Reference & Research Assistance

Reference & Research Assistance is offered on a priority basis to Concordia's primary constituency, that is, currently enrolled Concordia University students, faculty and staff. Reference assistance is provided to other users as time permits.

Access to Computers and Online Resources

Concordia University Library Privilege Card holders may apply in person at the Vanier or Webster Circulation Desk during service hours for a guest account to use library computers.

The guest account permits access outside of peak hours but only until midnight of the day the account was issued:

  • Fall and Winter Semesters
    • Monday to Thursday: 8:30am to 11am; 9pm to closing
    • Friday: 8:30am to 11am; 6pm to closing
    • Saturday and Sunday: 10am to closing
  • Spring and Summer Semesters

'CLUES only' computers as well as selected computers in the reference are are accessible at any time without an account.

License agreements require that off-campus use of the Libraries' electronic resources be restricted to Concordia University students, faculty members and staff. Concordia University Library Privilege Card holders may request a guest account enabling them to use some online resources in the library.

Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec offers free access to an array of online resources (free subscription required).

You can also search for Open Access content that is freely available online.

Library Code of Conduct

All persons using the library must respect the Library Code of Conduct. Among other regulations, excessive noise and use of cell phones are not permitted; also, food and drink are not permitted except for water kept in a closed container.
