Library services and resources during closure

All the Library's locations are temporarily closed until further notice. While our physical locations are closed, we are committed to supporting you throughout this period in completing your studies, teaching, and research.

Information on this page is subject to change. If additional resources become available, an update will be provided here.

Business hours and closures 

Webster and Vanier Libraries and the Grey Nuns Reading Room are closed until further notice.

Although the Library's spaces are closed, most electronic resources are available 24/7 and the Ask a Librarian service is offered on chat and email during regular business hours.

Please note that there will be NO FINES for late materials while the campus is closed. Do not attempt to return materials while the campus is closed. If you currently have books, a laptop, a tablet, or any items on loan, please keep these. Information about returns will be provided when the campus reopens.

Electronic Course Reserves:

Access to online course readings for courses in which you are enrolled: log into the Course Reserves System. 

Reference and Information: 

Your subject librarian is available to support you as always.

Chat (and email) with library staff using the Ask a Librarian service is available during regular chat service hours:

  • Ask about locating information online
  • Inquire about access to e-resources
  • Ask about using information, citing your sources and more

Monday – Thursday 10 a.m. - 9 p.m.
Friday 10:00 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday 12 p.m. - 5 p.m. 

Electronic Collections: 

Online resources and services continue to be available.  

For some electronic collections, members of the Concordia community will need to enable off-campus access. Please see the instructions for doing so on the Library’s website.

Consult the Library’s Subject and Course Guides for recommendations of databases, e-journal and e-book collections in your field. Note that many additional electronic resources, such as databases, e-journals, e-books, and streaming video collections, are currently available for a limited time. Discover these trial resources.

Interlibary Loan:

Interlibrary Loan is operational at a limited capacity. Where possible, requests for electronic articles and chapters will be processed. Requests for physical items, e.g., printed books or microfilm, cannot be processed.

Equipment Loans (ex: laptops and tablets):

Faculty members and instructors 

Textbooks and other course material:

While campuses are closed, there is no access to the Library's Course Reserves rooms.

However, a vast array of online Library resources remain available. Options for accessible, no-cost course materials for your students include:

Online Course Reserves: Curating a collection of digital books, articles, chapters, videos, etc. through our online Course Reserves service (Note: Library ensures copyright compliance as part of this service). For support, contact library.reserves@concordia.ca.

E-books or online videos: Requesting digital versions of books or videos via our Suggest A Purchase form, and/or working with your subject librarian to identify alternatives, if needed.

Open Educational Resources (OER): Adopting an Open Textbook that is free to read, free to download for offline use, etc. The Library has curated lists of potential open textbooks (where available) specific to Concordia's summer courses.
