Learn about electronics by trying out an Arduino microcontroller or Raspberry Pi computer—both easy ways to get started. Arduino and Raspberry Pi are small computing devices you can use to build gadgets.
We support basic electronics work by providing soldering equipment, wires, transistors, sensors, motors, and multimeters. For more advanced projects, we also have an oscilloscope, a hot-air rework station, and variable power supply. We lend Arduino microcontrollers and Raspberry Pi devices as well as accessories.
Basic coding skills are essential for controlling Arduino devices and very helpful for Raspberry Pi projects. See the Equipment catalogue for tools, devices, and accessories available to borrow and/or use in the Sandbox.
For all Arduino and most Raspberry Pi projects, you will need some basic coding skills. You can get started with coding by following tutorials online, attending a Sandbox workshop, or getting help from Sandbox staff. We recommend doing your first Arduino project in the Sandbox so that you can benefit from the support of the Sandbox's staff.
Regular workshops
All Sandbox workshops are at an introductory level and require no prior skills or experience.
