If you've never tried VR, come by the Sandbox and we'll get you started in a fun and safe environment.

We have 2 onsite VR stations that are already available for dropping in gaming. We encourage people to come in and play ( see the leisure collection for more physical games in the library). Please bring a friend, as VR station use requires a spotter.

For all onsite VR headsets we have immersive games such as Tilt Brush, Beat Saber, Half-Life Alex and many more.

For use onsite, we have HoloLenses and Tilt 5 for augmented reality - check in with one of our staff members to get these set up. There are also a vareity of VR headsets you can loan out. Check the catalogue.

If you are looking to create a VR experience such as a game, an artwork or and educational experience, talk to our staff about different software options such as Unity, Unreal Engine and A-Frame.

Each term we also have a VR bootcamp workshop to understand the basics of creating a VR environment

VR is closely related to 3D modeling, which can be used to create assets to support VR experiences. Real-life objects can be scanned with the 3D scanner and imported as digital assets into virtual reality. Our scanning options include iPad Pros (Lidar + Scanniverse) and the Eva Artec Sanner. Ask a staff member about scanning options.

Regular Workshops

All Sandbox workshops are at an introductory level and require no prior skills or experience.
