In the newly-renovated LB-3 East section of the Webster Library there is an area designated as a collaborative space. It’s located beside the atrium in between the two large reading rooms.
Many students are working on group projects or studying together with their friends and fellow students. These social learning exchanges require an environment where it’s okay to speak quietly and where it’s easy to share materials and work collaboratively.
The furniture we chose for this area needed to be adaptable to different learning styles, but also high quality, resistant to wear, and affordable. We also wanted to make sure that enough electrical outlets would be available and easily accessible in this area. Outlets are on the floor and on furniture for students to plug in their mobile devices.
