This guide lists a selection of the more important sources of information on Classics available at Concordia Libraries.
It includes material held in the Webster Library (WEB) on the Sir George Williams Downtown Campus, the Vanier Library (VAN) on the Loyola Campus and/or available online.
Most materials are located in the Reference area (REF). This is not a complete list.

Web Sites
- American Philological Association
The APA is the principal learned society for classical studies in North America. Its website offers links to other classics organizations, classics journals, classics on-line resources, etc.Included is information on upcoming lectures and conferences.
- Classical Association of Canada
This site provides information on positions available, summer study (tours, courses, digs), classics programmes in Canada, etc. Included is access to the Association's journal, Phoenix.
- Classical Language Instruction Project
An innovative attempt that uses shockwave software to display the texts and allows students to familiarize themselves with the sound of spoken Greek and Latin.
- Didaskalia: Ancient Theatre Today
"Didaskalia is an electronic resource and journal dedicated to the study of ancient Greek and Roman drama and its reception." Includes information on performances, conferences, museum exhibitions, seminars, summer schools, jobs, etc.
- Diotima: Materials for the Study of Women and Gender in the Ancient World
Contains course materials, bibliographies, and links to on-line resources, including articles, book reviews, databases, and images.
- Egyptology Resources
The first Egyptology site on the Web. Contains links to bibliographies, mailing lists and newsgroups, institutions, museums, digs, publishers, booksellers, journals, organizations, online publications, etc.
- Abridged Online Thesaurus Linguae Graecae
Provides "access to a number of works from authors such as Homer, Hesiod, Plato, Aristotle, the Greek tragedians and orators that have traditionally been used in college level instruction of Greek."
- Maecenas: Images of Ancient Greece and Rome
This website offers over 2,100 photographs in both black and white, and colour.
- Perseus Digital Library
This database is an evolving digital library of resources, textual and visual, for the study of the ancient world.Includes catalogues of sites, buildings and objects (coins, sculpture, etc.), texts and translations, dictionaries, reference tools, atlases, etc.
- Prehistoric Archaeology of the Aegean
Through a series of lessons and illustrations, this site traces the cultural evolution of humanity in the Aegean basin from the era of hunting and gathering (Palaeolithic-Mesolithic) to the age of the great palatial cultures of Minoan Crete and Mycenaean Greece.
- Society for the Oral Reading of Greek and Latin Literature (SORGLL)
This site allows one to listen to the literature as it was meant to be heard by its classical authors.
- TOCS-IN: Tables of Contents of Journals of Interest to Classicists
A searchable database of the tables of contents of some 160 journals.
- Voice of the Shuttle: Classical Studies
An excellent gateway to classics websites. Covers archaeology, language, literature, history, philosophy, and mythology. Resources also include: associations, classics departments, listservs and newsgroups, journals, conferences, and course syllabi.
