The History of Concordia Book Project

In 2024, Concordia University will be celebrating its 50th anniversary. As part of the commemorative events marking this important occasion, an edited collection, featuring a variety of themes and topics related to Concordia’s rich and varied history, will be published. The book will be published by Concordia University Press on behalf of the university.

The timeframe of this collection will mainly focus on Concordia’s history over the last fifty years while also covering the events that led to its creation following the merger of Loyola College and Sir George Williams University in 1974. The book’s format will include a diverse set of perspectives from a range of Concordian authors, as well as oral histories of individuals who helped shape the university’s collective identity.

A digital timeline will accompany the book’s anticipated publication in 2024. Developed in collaboration with Records Management and Archives, this timeline will chart Concordia’s evolution over the years as well as key events and episodes in the histories of its two founding institutions.

Additional information can be found in the original Call for Proposals (Appel de propositions). Please note that submissions are no longer being accepted.
