Workshop for graduate students. Some publishers now require that data supporting published research be made publicly available at the time of publication. On top of increasing the impact of your research, sharing data promotes transparency, reproducibility and progress. This workshop provided essential tips on preparing data for publication and choosing the best place to share the data.

Introduction to choosing a data repository

The session aimed to teach participants how to (1) Identify the different reasons why researchers would deposit their data; (2) Recognize the different types of repositories and their characteristics; (3) Identify the criteria for selecting appropriate data repositories; (4) Use different tools to find repositories; (5) Understand the basics of two Canadian data repositories (Dataverse & FRDR).
