Our technology
Capabilities
The Visualization Studio is a space providing students and faculty with new, immersive ways to explore, create, and communicate. The studio features a touch-capable high-resolution display wall, a mono audio system for basic sound playback, a spatial audio system, and a range of VR hardware options. An intuitive touch interface allows users to make, save and recall an unlimited range of different video, mono audio, and lighting layouts.
The studio’s dedicated graphics PC can send a full resolution signal to fill the display wall; however, you can also create custom video mosaics comprised of the video output of your own devices, the outputs of our main graphics PC, and two other PCs dedicated to VR development and room tracking.
Audio from any device can be routed to the room’s mono audio system, or a 27-speaker immersive 'SPAT' audio system for more advanced spatial audio applications.
Technology
Control
- A touch interface allows users to easily create, save and recall video, mono audio, and lighting layouts.
- An iPad is available to control the spatial audio system and the movement of audio channels in realtime.
- Dedicated low-latency Wi-Fi network for routing control messages to the studio PCs.
- 2x Kinect motion-sensing tracking cameras.
- Upon request, the studio’s VuWall display wall processor and scaler can be configured to display custom input device resolutions.
Display
- Infrared touch-capable 16:3 Planar LCD display wall measuring 9.2 m x 1.7 m with default resolution of 11,520 x 2,160 pixels at 30Hz. (Higher frame rates and the wall’s native 17,820 x 3,240 pixel resolution can be accessed by request as they require custom configurations.)
Note: It is not necessary to create custom media for the studio’s display wall. Think of the wall as a visual canvas that can display the output of any video device including laptops, tablets and smart phones.
